It’s that time again, time for a brand-new system update for PlayStation 4. This time around, Sony is looking to make some changes to the party system, as well as update the way that remote play works with the console.
System software update 7.00 is set to launch sometime later this week—no definitive date has been given—and it will bring an increase to the party size, as well as improvements to both network connectivity and audio quality. On top of those changes, the 7.00 update will also launch with accessibility support for chat transcription in the United States only. This is a huge move forward for Sony’s party system, which has been seeing constant improvements since it was originally introduced on the PlayStation 3. You can check out the official PlayStation blog for more details.
Alongside the new changes to the party system, update 7.00 will also bring some changes to remote play, allowing users to utilize remote play on smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher. To take part in remote play after the 7.00 update, simply download the PS4 Remote Play application from the Google Play Store, and then connect it to your PlayStation account.
The iPhone and iPad versions of the PS4 Remote Play app have also received some love, with the update now displaying the controller at all times, as well as support that allows you to lock the screen orientation. Players will also find that their DualShock 4 wireless controllers can also be used with Remote Play via Bluetooth on Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. All users will need to do is ensure they have updated to Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the latest PlayStation 4 software updates. When 7.00 hits later this week, make sure you’re ready and go ahead and download the PS4 Remote Play application on your phone so that you can enjoy all those sweet PS4 titles from other rooms in your house.
