Activision doesn't normally cross their franchises over. It's not likely that you'll see Crash Bandicoot rub elbows with the soldiers of Call of Duty. However, Activision is more receptive to opening the doors of their various franchises to one of their biggest charities. On Friday, the publisher anounced a special team-up between Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and the Call of Duty Endowment charitable foundation.
The team-up is a new DLC vehicle called the Firehawk. As one might imagine, given the tie-in to Call of Duty, the Firehawk is modeled after a classic military fighter plane. The Firehawk can be used with any of the Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled characters. Players will notice the Call of Duty Endowment logo placed along the plane's tail, giving the charity a bit of an extra shoutout.
This marks one of the first occasions in which Call of Duty Endowment items will be featured in a game outside of the core CoD franchise. Most recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 received a special piece of DLC for the game's Blackout battle royale mode, getting a special care package, as well as an exclusive PlayStation 4 theme. Activision has already done some great work with its nonprofit, finding gainful employment for over 50,000 veterans across the United States and United Kingdom. You can learn more about Call of Duty Endowment from our interview conducted with Executive Director Dan Goldenberg earlier this year.
The Firehawk will be available on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Nintendo eShop starting today. All proceeds will go directly towards Call of Duty Endowment. However, the Firehawk won't be available forever. Activision is only offering the vehicle in a limited supply and plans to pull the item upon raising $1 million, so don't hesitate to pick it up while you can.
