Legendary cult favorite arcade shooter The House of the Dead and The House of the Dead 2 is getting its own set of remakes.
Forever Entertainment has joined forces with Sega, signing a contract to develop and release remakes of both games. The developer has yet to announce any sort of platform information or even a projected release date, but the fact that these games are coming is exciting enough news for series faithful. The team even said as such on Twitter that saying anything was off the table, but suggested for everyone to follow their official social channels.
There were previously rumblings about the games' potential existence going around back on September 25, but at the time there hadn't been any sort of official confirmation on it from Forever entertainment. According to Polish website Graczpospolita, the games will be worked on by MegaPixel studio, and the first entry should be coming out by the end of 2020. The games will get updated graphics, modified gameplay, and the same scenarios players know and love. Further, a new look at the first game should be coming out over the next few months. Obviously, none of this has been confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio are the same pair that are currently working on the previously-announced Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei remakes, which the first title of is due out this winter. If these are the entities that will be working on the game, it makes sense that it may be a while before we see any real movement on the House of the Dead titles.
For now, we've got to go back and enjoy some of the worst voice acting of all time in the games, because they're certainly responsible for some of the funniest moments in video game voice acting ever. We've got to wonder if these lines will be preserved for the new games, in fact. It's very possible they could be, but only time will tell. We'll let you know more when we know.
