Psyonix has introduced a new Blueprints system in Rocket League as well as its Item Shop, which will act in place of the Crates that will be leaving the game by the end of the year.
Psyonix detailed the new system, which is a replacement for Crates, that will be debuting in-game this December. When Blueprints are obtained following a match, players can tell what item can be created with out and then pay a set price to make it theirs, which removes much of the "gambling" nature of it all that's attached to typical loot crate setups. You can also just leave the Blueprint in your inventory and use it later if you don't want to do so right away. Some will drop with special attributes like Certified, Painted and Special Editions.
A new rotating Item Shop will be hitting the game as well. It comes with a variety of goodies, including legacy Crate content, and the debut of new items like the Titanium White Dominos. Item Shop purchases will be bound to your account and cannot be traded. You can purchase new items by way of Credits, or the game's new premium currency that will replace Keys.
Your Keys will automatically be converted to Credits when the Blueprint system goes live, the first time you log into Rocket League. Each remaining Crate will also be converted to a Blueprint of the same series. Ahead of Blueprints going live, the Vindicator Crate will make an appearance in Rocket League this Thursday, October 3 as the game's final Crate. It will come with the new Sentinel Battle-Car and Neuro-Agitatoir Goal Explosion.
"Here at Psyonix, and Epic Games as a whole, we are dedicated to creating the best possible experience for our players all over the world. In pursuit of that goal, later this year we will remove all paid, randomized Crates from Rocket League, replacing them with a system that shows the exact items you’re buying in advance. This is similar to changes implemented earlier this year by the Fortnite Save the World team," read the original blog post that announced that Crates would be departing. At the time, Rocket Pass Premium, DLC cars, and Esports Shop items were available for purchase as part of the new system.
