Today is the 25th anniversary of the original System Shock, and there's a special stream going on this evening to commemorate its launch so long ago.
The first game in the cyberpunk and sci-fi series first brought us the maniac AI SHODAN, and some inherently creepy moments that would eventually become absolute classics throughout the life of the series. If you've missed out on any of the games, you absolutely owe it to yourself to make sure you jump in whenever you've got some free time to get a game in.
For a special birthday celebration, you can check out a livestream with chats with producer Warren Spector, designer Tim Stellmach, and the voice of SHODAN, Terri Brosius. It all goes down tonight, a celebration of classic gaming and awesome stories surrounding the game's development. It's going to be a blast for fans, that much is clear.
And just in case you missed it, Night Dive Studios is rebooting the original 1994 classic System Shock. If you're not excited, you should be.
Some impressive talent is on board for this reboot with updates for modern gamers, including graphical, musical, and mechanical alterations. Terri Brosius, the original voice of SHODAN, was enlisted to re-record voice segments as well. And that's definitely something that we should be shouting from the rooftops, because she's definitely one talented actress who can make your skin crawl.
The System Shock anniversary stream starts at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET, and you can watch it on the Twitch stream above. In the meantime, be sure to comment and let us know what your favorite System Shock installment is.
