Some may find it hard to believe, but Star Wars Battlefront II, despite a rocky launch, is not only still kicking, but it's even starting to thrive. EA and DICE have remained steadfast in their support for the game and are now preparing to deploy the game's next big update, which will expand on its co-op features. It's appropriately labeled as the Cooperation Update.
Players will explore the planet of Felucia, which long-time Star Wars fans will remember as one of the key locations of the Clone Wars saga. The planet is filled with killer plants, with funguses that explode with poison gas on contact. It would be a shame if there was a firefight unfolding around all of that to the point that a poison gas cloud is inevitable. If that's not enough, somebody thought a Sarlacc pit would be a perfect site for a massive clash. Make sure to jump into Felucia between October 11-18. If you capture 15 command posts, you'll unlock the Darth Maul "KENOBI!" emote, from the now-iconic episode of Star Wars Rebels where Maul confronted a much-older Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. (If you're curious as to how that confrontation went, well... it didn't turn out well for Darth Maul, let's just say that.)
Given the dangerous surroundings, it's a good time to bring out a new infantry unit. The Clone Commandos are hailed as the most elite soldiers the Republic has to offer. They bring along their DC-17m Repeating Blaster Rifle, as well as an Anti-Armor attachment and a repulsor blast that can knock targets off their feet. They can support their allies with the Battle Focus Ability, reducing their damage intake.
Why else is this called the Cooperation Update? DICE is bringing back the PvE Instant Action mode, which allows solo players to jump into prequel-era missions in an offline setting. If you do wish to jump online, Instant Action will support up to four players. There will be a handful of rewards tied to this new game mode. Players who rack up 150 kills in Instant Action co-op from October 11-18 can unlock the Farmboy Luke skin for Luke Skywalker, giving him his original look from Star Wars: A New Hope.
The Cooperation Update is set to hit Star Wars Battlefront II this Wednesday, September 25, with more information avaliable on the Star Wars Battlefront website. And for those who think this is the end of the road, think again. Even more content is coming soon, including an unknown tie-in to December's Rise of Skywalker blockbuster motion picture.
