Now that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare beta has come to a close, what's next for the franchise? The answer is a step back into Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which is launching its fall season of events across all of its various game modes. And while the season for summer action blockbusters may be over, Treyarch is fully embracing that aesthetic for Black Ops 4's latest update, Operation Dark Divide.
First and foremost, Operation Dark Divide will feature something special for Zombies. The Aether story will officially come to an end with the final chapter, Tag Der Toten, formally closing the book on a decade-long Zombies storyline. For this, Treyarch has taken the classic Call of the Dead map and not only reworked it, but they've also expanded upon it. This is available to Black Ops Pass owners right now on PlayStation 4, with other platforms set to receive it in the days ahead.
To help teams survive the challenges ahead, players can find two new Elixers and a new Blaze Phase Perk, which can knock back zombies with a powerful fireball. These additions to Zombies are available for free.
What else is free? How about the latest Blackout updates, which transform the Black Ops 4 battle royale stage into something completely different? Heavy Metal Heroes is a limited-time mode that opens the door to bombastic weaponry, like explosive rocket launchers, flare guns, and big honkin' tanks. On top of that, the double jump has been enabled to allow players to reach whole new heights. Those looking for more of a sense of normalcy can also retreat back to the main Blackout map, which has returned to its former state following the recent apocalypse.
Those looking for more content for their traditional Call of Duty multiplayer will need their Black Ops Pass. This will give them access to a pair of new multiplayer maps. Lair is a smaller map that puts players on a volcanic island, complete with a death laser. Meanwhile, Launch is a reimagined classic map, taking players to a Soviet missile testing facility.
Operation Dark Divide is available right now on PlayStation 4, with PC and Xbox One set to receive all this content soon. For more information, you'll want to visit the Treyarch website.
