If you’ve been looking for a new RTS to sink your teeth into then Stronghold: Warlords is one that should definitely be on your radar. We recently had a chance to sit down and talk about the upcoming RTS with Nick Tannahill, the marketing director at Firefly Studios.
During our chat with Nick, we talked quite a bit about the studio’s upcoming game. According to Nick, the development team on Stronghold: Warlords is trying to offer a fairly authentic experience for fans of the era, and they’ve put a lot of work into bringing the units and world to life in Warlords. During a showcase of the gameplay that players will take part in while playing Stronghold: Warlords, we were shown a series of different moments in the game, including a system called Troop Displacement. When turned on, this mode basically makes it so that each of your units moves more authentically through others, pushing through the lines of soldiers instead of simply ghosting through them.
Troop Displacement looks like a really nifty feature to include in an RTS, and the game still looks to hold onto a lot of the original design aspects of creating your kingdom that made the original Stronghold games so addicting to play. Nick also talked about how the developers are working with the community, including looking to bring some of the fan’s favorite things to the newer title, including things like the humor, accents, and even some of the building options. If you’ve ever been a fan of the Stronghold series, then Warlords could shape up to be a dream come true.
