Asobo Studio's A Plague Tale is a bleak single-player or co-op experience that features some pretty depressing imagery.
If you aren't sure you want to give it a try just yet, there's a trial going on now that should help you figure that out. The free trial version is comprised of the game's first full chapter, and it's available to download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The game follows a young girl name Amicia and her sick brother Hugo as they try to escape their noble home in a bid to escape the Inquisition. It's not pretty, and frequently disturbing, so if that's something you're into, you may love it!
Kevin Tucker reviewed A Plague Tale: Innocence and awarded it a 7 out of 10. Here's what he thought of it:
"Asobo Studio certainly knows how to make a cinematic experience. With that said, A Plague Tale: Innocence is dark, dangerous, and just a little bit dull. Players who enjoy a story-focused adventure with approachable gameplay are likely to be thrilled watching the tale of Amicia and Hugo unfold, but other gamers may find that the action simply can't keep up with the story. It's worth following the De Rune family's escapades through to their natural conclusion, but players who are used to more active engagement in games may struggle with tedious stealth sections and a fair amount of heavy handed storytelling."
If you download the trial and decide you like, you can pick up the game for 33% off throughout Monday, September 16.
