There have been a lot of question marks regarding what Capcom's Project Resistance entails. The only knowns heading into Wednesday was that it had some sort of tie to the Resident Evil universe, but it wasn't officially a Resident Evil sequel. Many of those questions were answered at this year's Tokyo Game Show, as Capcom formally outlined Project Resistance just hours ahead of its TGS live stream.
If you guessed that Project Resistance was an asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer experience... sit down, you liar. You didn't guess that. Why would you lie like that?
But yes, Project Resistance (still a working title and subject to change) pits a team of four Survivors inside a deadly stage filled with security cameras, traps, and zombies. On the other side is a single player, who works as the Mastermind. The Mastermind can use a deck of cards to put together obstacles for the Survivor team, which can include enemies, traps, and even a shifted environment. It'll also be possible for Masterminds to take direct control of a Tyrant in order to personally hunt down the Survivor team. For the Mastermind, the object is to kill the Survivor team, while the Survivor team's objective is to escape the map before time runs out.
If you want to see more about what Project Resistance is about, remember that there's a live stream set to go down later tonight, which will undoubtedly go into the game's finer details. If you want to find out for yourself what this is all about, Capcom is offering up a closed beta, which is set to run from October 4-7. Sign-ups for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One closed betas are available on the Project Resistance website. You'll only have until next Wednesday, September 18 to sign up for the closed beta.
Capcom is promising more information on Project Resistance, including what one would expect to be its finalized title, at a later date. In the meantime, stay tuned for that live stream as we try and wrap our heads around what's happening here.
