In this guide, we’ll show you how to complete the electrical connection and open up the trap door at the end of this quest, which will allow you to unlock a fancy red chest full of goodies.
How to open the trap door in Dump on Dumptruck
Dump on Dumptruck is one of the first side quests that players can unlock and complete after starting up Borderlands 3. After you speak with Ellie and unlock the Catch-a-Ride, head back to her garage and look for the ! on the wall signifying a quest marker. If you interact with the post here Ellie will send you out on a mission to ‘Dump on Dumptruck’ a bandit that has been causing her some trouble.
The mission is fairly simple, all you need to do is head to the location and beat down Dumptruck and his fellow bandits using the bullets in your guns. Fair warning, you can also get some extra goodies by shooting Dumptruck in his butt, which is very easy to do considering he often turns and shakes it at you in a mocking manner.
No matter how you complete the task, though, once you’ve disposed of Dumptruck and his stinky bandits, you’ll be tasked with opening a trap door to his nearby loot stash. Before heading into the fight with Dumptruck you probably noticed the broken electrical cable on the catwalk nearby. This cable actually leads to the power switch for the trap door and you’ll need to reconnect it if you want to open the door.
To reconnect the wire, head to the left-hand side of the catwalk when facing the door that Dumptruck exits out of. Above you, there will be a valve on a water pipe as well as a generator that the yellow wire leads to. First, take aim at the water valve and shoot it off. This will cause a stream of water to eject from the pipe and create a puddle along the wires.
Now you need to shoot the generator and kick off the electrical charge. This will reconnect the two wires, allowing the electricity to flow onward to the switch, opening up the trap door. Viola! Now head inside and grab all the goodies you can find below. For more help make sure you head back over to our Borderlands 3 walkthrough and guide.
