Welcome to another edition of game companies refusing to create the games fans are asking for, so other studios are having to step in and take point instead.
Aching for another Skate game? It looks like that might not happen for some reason, but there's something pretty awesome that will be coming out: crea-ture Studios' upcoming Session which looks a lot like the spiritual successor for Skate that we've all been waiting for. Yes, it looks like they're doing EA's job for them for some reason.
A new video showcasing some of the moves you can pull off in-game has surfaced ahead of the game's debut next week via Steam Early Access. The extended gameplay footage shows off some of the true stance stick controls with each stick controlling one foot in a bid to replicate real skating, while the other shows off "switch" tricks. You'll get to roll through a 1:1 scale environment of New York and lower Manhattan with the Brooklyn Banks and Financial District.
The game will also feature professional skateboarders like Donovan Strain, Dane Burman, and Ribs Man as well as plenty of ways to express yourself and your creativity through the language of skateboarding. Yes, you totally can do that, and Session looks like it's equipped with the proper tools to do it.
If you like what you see, Session is coming to PC by way of Steam's Early Access program for $19.99 on September 17. The Xbox One version will debut later this year in October via Xbox Game Preview, with a full launch planned for early 2020. In the meantime, check out its original Kickstarter pitch.
