It's been a few months since Bethesda threatened to unleash the Ghosts for Rage 2. Now the time for them to rise is nearly at hand. On Monday, the publisher announced a release date for Rise of the Ghosts, Rage 2's first expansion pack, along with some more details on what's being touted as an all-new story.
First revealed at E3 2019, Rage 2: Rise of the Ghosts will take players to a brand new region called the Overgrown City. It's a region that's littered with members of a dangerous faction called the Ghosts. Infused with Feltrite, the cannibalistic Ghosts go on a rampage, one that could go beyond the Overgrown City's borders.
Fortunately, players will have a little bit of help in the form of new lead character Ranger Walker. On top of a new Ghost Motorcycle vehicle, players can get to work with a new disintegration weapon called the Feltrite Laser Launcher and a new ability called Void, which suspends enemies in a mid-air vortex. Whateve you want to do with them while they're helpless in the air is up to you.
Rise of the Ghosts is a little bit later than the Rage 2 roadmap might have projected, but it's the latest piece in a season filled with content. Bethesda and Avalanche will continue to add new world events, as well as new Wasteland Challenges and weapon skins, in the weeks ahead for the core Rage 2 game. There's also a second expansion in the works, so stay tuned for information on that as it arrives.
Rage 2: Rise of the Ghosts is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 26. It'll cost $15 or 1500 RAGE Coins. If you've somehow managed to wrangle up 2000 RAGE Coins, you can spring for the deluxe edition, which will include the DOOM BFG, Wasteland Wizard Cheat Codes, Progress Booster, and the Battle Standard vehicle banner. More information on Rise of the Ghosts can be found on the Bethesda website.
