So, you thought that Sora's saga ended with Kingdom Hearts III. But what if Square Enix were to tell you that there's still another chapter left to be told. The publisher is here to Re:Mind everyone this week that there's still DLC yet to be released. On Monday, fans were treated to the first extended trailer for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III: Re:Mind, which looks to tie up a few certain loose ends from the game's main story.
The trailer takes players back to the Kingdom Hearts III climax in the heart of the Keyblade Graveyard. As the sides of light and darkness clash, players are reminded of a certain plot point that was never resolved at the end of the game. This is going to be a bit of a spoiler, so if you haven't finished the game, you may want to skip ahead to the DLC's pertinent release details at the bottom of this story.
Recall that Xehanort struck Kairi down near the end of the game. Her heart has been scattered, but once the final battle was over, there was no grief on Sora's end, as he was fully confident that he would find her again. That indeed seems to be the backdrop of Re:Mind, however there looks to be a complication. Here, Sora's informed by the Chirithy that "this time, the situation is a lot worse."
Re:Mind also looks to offer a more extensive climax, which is interesting, because the time in the Keyblade Graveyard was already fairly lengthy. But here in the trailer, players can see extended dialogue and battles between Aqua and Terra, Roxas and Xigbar, and more of Sora trying to find his way back to his friends.
There are still a lot of questions about Re:Mind and... well, let's face it. It wouldn't be Kingdom Hearts if people didn't walk away with more questions than answers. Those questions will be answered (we think) when Kingdom Hearts III: Re:Mind arrives this coming winter. A release date is still forthcoming.
