If you’ve been waiting for EA to step up to the line and kick a historic field goal with Madden NFL 20, then you might be waiting a bit longer. While reception for the game was a bit mild back when it released earlier in the year, EA has just unveiled a brand-new mode called Superstar KO mode and is hosting a free weekend this month.
The new gameplay mode can be tried out during the game’s free weekend, which will run from September 5 to September 9. Superstar KO mode will feature both solo and squad matches of quick, five-minute games. The entire idea behind Superstar KO mode appears to be to give players much faster-paced games that will allow them to dive into the title and make the most of their breaks from the kids, work, or whatever other hurdles life throws at you. After the free weekend, Superstar KO mode will be available to anyone who owns Madden NFL 20 and has PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold.
September 5 is also the kickoff of the Twitch Prime Crown Cup at Grant Park in Chicago, and any fans attending the festivities can stop by to check out musicians like Lil Yachty, Juice Wrld, and top Twitch streamers as they all compete to be the best. We’re not quite sure what’s going on here, as Madden NFL 20 has made quite a name for itself as one of the worst games in the series so far. In fact, people over on Reddit continue to find little issues like this unchanged logo for Madden NFL 19.
Back when Madden NFL 20 released, our own Chirs Jarrard reviewed it, stating “Madden NFL 20 is the worst major sports league video game out there. Despite some despicable microtransaction design, NBA 2K is an exponentially better representation of its real-life counterpart and has an ever-improving Franchise mode that offers real depth and year-over-year growth. MLB: The Show is the blueprint of excellence for which other sports titles should be judged.” You can check out our full Madden NFL 20 review yourself.
