Go vacationing with Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure gameplay

Natsume's Reel Fishing: Road Trip Adventure is one of the coolest approaches to a fishing game since the River King series.

It may look like a pedestrian fishing game at a glance, but don't let first impressions fool you. The Reel Fishing series shows off some of its exciting new gameplay elements in its latest trailer, which features a storyline rife with colorful art that pops with a stylish, Persona-like aesthetic.

The anime-like storyline follows three college friends who set off on a summer road trip to track down a fish a man they met at a museum told them about. This legendary fish is hiding some interesting secrets, and these stalwart fishing-obsessed friends will have to work hard if they want to unravel them as they go about their business on their trip to an idyllic camping ground positively rife with fish and related activities.

There's much more to the game than catching fish, as you can help your friends cook and prepare meals, acquire new abilities, try new rods and reels, and travel to different locations to see the rest of the wide, wide world.

It's making its way to Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch on September 17, so if you're a fan of fishing in games like Final Fantasy XV and love life management and dating sims, you're going to want to see what this game has in store for you. It's a great reminder not to judge a book by its cover.
