When it comes to Transformers lore, the two most recognizable names are Optimus Prime and Megatron. However, long-time fans hold a deep respect for the name Unicron. He's one of the largest robots in series history, able to change into a literal planet. He is considered a deity in Transformers lore, remembered for his mammoth proportions. He's also remembered as the final role for the legendary Orson Welles, the titan of film who voiced the character in 1986's Transformers: The Movie. So it stands to reason that a toy must be every bit as gargantuan as the character itself.
Take a journey with Takara Tomy's Senior Product Designer Kunihiro, as he takes painstakingly meticulous measuers to convert Unicron from his planetary form to his robot form. Observe the plastic mold and how Kunihiro shifts the various pieces around. Shifting pieces from the planet's exterior through the various pieces of the core, he creates one of the most powerful villains in all of Transformers history. In its robot mode, Unicron stands at over 27-inches, while its planet mode has a 30-inch diameter.
This is all a demonstration for the Transformers: War For Cybertron Unicron figure, the first ever Transformers HASLAB project. It's currently in its crowdfunding stage on Hasbro Pulse. If this project reaches 8,000 backers, this gigantic collectible will go into production. But your donation will certainly not be cheap and it certainly won't be as affordable as the Hasbro Transformers 2019 line-up. The current listing has it at $574.99. The figure is currently over halfway to its goal, but all donations must be in before August 31, so if you've got the touch, you've got the power to put this thing into production.
