One of the big questions many players face prior to buying their next game is how long it will take to beat it. What sort time commitment is necessary, and can they afford to sink that time into the game. For some gamers, how long a game takes to complete might weigh into its value in their eyes. Well, with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, some players might have their hands full.
While speaking with VG24/7, Patrice Désilets, creator of Panache Digital Games, the studio developing Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, stated that “Volume one is roughly between 40 to 50 hours’ worth of gameplay, so it’s not a little thing.”
While that may seem like a lot, it’s important for players to realize that this is a survival game and it’s very possible to lose an entire run. The point is to evolve and further the lineage of your clan, so if your entire clan were to die off, you’d lose your progress and start over. This is significant because it suggests that 40 to 50 hours isn’t just a single run, but what’s required to get the full experience. That could be across more than one playthrough.
