Discord is about to introduce a new feature that might be very lucrative for fans who enjoy livestreaming.
The chat platform will be rolling out the Go Live feature this month, which allows users to stream gameplay for up to 10 friends in their server while they chat via voice channels. Meant as a way to channel the old-school feeling of hanging out on the couch and gaming with friends, it will offer simple setup and streaming for anyone to enjoy.
The idea is for Go Live to take a single click to set up so anyone can easily participate. Friends can watch your stream from just about anywhere via desktop app or browser, with mobile spectating coming later this year. Go Live is also hardware-optimized to stream with little impact to your game performance.
Nitro Classic subscribers will get to stream video up to 1080p at 60 fps, and Niteo subscribers will get quality up to 4K and 60 fps. Users can start using GoLive as it begins rolling out on August 15. It should reach all users over the course of two weeks.
In the meantime, there's always Mixer for all your streaming needs, or Twitch – but it looks like a lot of the "cool" crowd might be hitting up Mixer in the near future.
