WRC 8 developer video details revamped Career Mode

WRC 8 is right around the corner, throttling up for a blast through the apex and onto players' systems. Not only does WRC 8 mark the latest entry in the official World Rally Cross video game series, the newest entry is slated to feature the most robust Career Mode yet. To explain the new digs, the developers have created a special Career Mode overview, the likes of which can be seen in the embed below.

The main change this time around is a focus on holistic career progression as opposed to the need to complete every single race. Instead, the new WRC 8 Career Mode will focus on all the things that drivers have to do throughout their careers, including picking different races throughout the calendar year, putting together a crew, and managing crew member duties and progression through the new skill tree.

According to a press release for the announcement, WRC 8 players will need to focus on these three specific areas to advance through the ranks of the new WRC 8 Career Mode:

Planning the calendar to decide which events to do in between rallies: training, manufacturer challenges, rest, classic events, etc.
Managing a whole crew comprising six different and interconnected job roles. Players must consider each of their unique characteristics and use them strategically in each rally.
Upgrading the crew through R&D and a skill tree, which evolves depending on player choices. Every decision has an impact on progression and on the morale of the crew (performance, reliability, etc.).

All things considered, WRC 8 is slated to be the biggest and baddest World Rally Cross video game the series has seen yet. Players can plan for the release of WRC 8 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch in September.
