Troy Baker has had quite an illustrious career as a voice actor. Bringing characters like Batman, Joker, Hulk, and countless others to life, Baker has become a staple in video games. We caught up with the beloved voice actor at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 to talk about his various roles, and even discuss that one time he read for Jesus.
“Is there anything you can’t do?” Shacknews Video Editor Greg Burke posed the question to Baker during our chat at SDCC 2019.
“Apparently Jesus,” Baker responded with a chuckle, addressing a statement he’d made moments before. According to Baker, he’d actually read for the part of Jesus at one point, but he’d been turned down. It’s interesting to think of someone with such an illustrious history of characters like Troy Baker being turned down for a role, but it’s just part of the business.
That hasn’t stopped Baker from bringing other characters to life. One of his latest appearances throws him into the role of Batman in Lego Batman: Family Matters. The story focuses heavily around the caped crusader’s family as they work to take down the villainous Red Hood. The animated film is now available and includes additional voice actors like Nolan North, Steve Blum, and more.
