You thought you’ve seen all the takes on a superhero movie? Think again. Shacknews had the pleasure of speaking with Tomer Capon, star of The Boys, at San Diego Comin-Con about how he landed this role and his experience shooting an American series. You can check out the full interview below!
The Boys is an upcoming series exclusive to Amazon Video. This series is a black-comedy about superheroes but it’s unlike every other superhero film out there. These heroes are not the lawful good pinnacles of justice like Superman, they’re real humans who like to exploit their power. The series is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
During the interview, Shacknews got to pick Tomer Capon’s brain about how he landed such an incredible and unique role. Capon revealed that he was actually a long-time fan of the comic book, so he jumped at the chance to portray one of his favorite characters. He also expressed an excitement for the audience to see how he has chosen to portray Frenchie in The Boys.
Capon also revealed that this is his first “real” American gig. Unlike the films and shows he’s done previously, working on The Boys has allowed him to explore the characters a bit more thanks to having more time. As part of the training, he was given ample time to practice with the various weaponry shown in the film. Outside of acting for film, Capon also expressed an interest in trying out motion capture.
The Boys will be available through Amazon Video on July 26. For more of the latest gaming and comic book news fresh out of Comic-Con, check out the Shacknews and GamerHubTV YouTube channels.
