QuakeCon 2019 is about to pop off in Grapevine, Texas. Bethesda Softworks and id Software have been doing some especially cool charitable efforts at the event over the past five years, and they are kicking it into high gear for the Year of Doom. The American Red Cross, Dallas Pets Alive!, 1UpOnCancer, Anime for Humanity, Stack Up, and Gamers Outreach will all have a presence at the show next week.
"Each year, the QuakeCon community comes together in amazing ways, offering their support to a variety of charities, whether that’s giving money, or even, giving their own blood for the good of others,” said Pete Hines, Vice President of Marketing, Bethesda Softworks. “This is one of the best parts of QuakeCon and this year’s event offers even more creative ways to do good, from pet adoption livestreams to Fallout 76 charity fundraisers and much more.”
Here's a breakdown of each organization's plans for QuakeCon 2019:
Dallas Pets Alive! a local non-profit dedicated to promoting and providing the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals, will be onsite at booth #139 with adoptable dogs eager to find their forever homes.
QuakeCon: Year of DOOM attendees who donate at least $15 to Dallas Pets Alive! will receive an exclusive Dallas Pets Alive! shirt featuring a dog in DOOM gear or a cat decked out for RAGE 2. These shirts will also be sold online with all proceeds going to Dallas Pets Alive!. A link to purchase the shirts from home will be provided during our keynote presentation.
To support DPA, a variety of popular streamers will be playing Bethesda games live, from a dog pen on the show floor … WHILE PLAYING WITH DOGS UP FOR ADOPTION. Links to adoption pages will be provided for those looking to find a new furry friend, and viewers will be provided a link to donate money to support Dallas Pets Alive!.
Additionally, The Elder Scrolls Online will sponsor three adoptable dogs from DPA, covering the adoption costs and providing a themed bandana, toy, and profile for the pup, as well as a copy of ESO for the new owner. Keep an eye on The Elder Scrolls Online Twitter page for details.
It is great to see id Software and Bethesda give back with their charitable efforts at QuakeCon. Keep it locked on Shacknews for all of the news as it breaks from QuakeCon 2019.
