It looks like Sega is hard at work on potentially revitalizing the Super Monkey Ball franchise, if a listing from Taiwan's Digital Game Rating Committee is correct.
An unannounced game called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball showed up in the listings, which could mean we're on the precipice of a new game announcement soon enough. The name's "Tabeogoro" term loosely translates to "ready to eat," which might mean there's something banana-related with the game. We aren't sure what you'd do in the game just yet, of course, but the name is a good start.
That's about all we know so far, other than a glimpse at some artwork with AiAi holding a banana, but that's par for the course when it comes to this series.
We haven't seen an official Super Monkey Ball game since Super Monkey Ball Bounce came to Android and iOS devices in 2014. Before that, Sega released Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz for PlayStation Vita in 2012, marking the release of another handheld. Then Super Monkey Ball 3D for Nintendo 3DS emerged in 2011, and Super Monkey Ball: Step and Roll for Wii in 2010. So it's high time for another entry, wouldn't you say?
We'll have to see what ends up happening, but right now chances are good for a new Monkey Ball adventure, one that will likely be perfect for the Switch's Joy-Con motion controls. Hopefully all goes well and Sega blesses us with more of one of its coolest monkeys soon enough – you know, besides Samba.
