Looking for something new to play via the Epic Games Store? You'll want to act fast and pick up your free copy of Torchlight from the platform, which is offering the game for free until July 18.
The hack-and-slash RPG from 2009 is the next weekly freebie following Overcooked, and it's well worth grabbing, even if you're tuckered out from games that feel a lot like Diablo (or Diablo itself, if you've been playing on Switch.) But Torchlight features procedurally-generated dungeons that are still entertaining today, a decade later.
What's interesting about this situation is that Torchlight was originally a Steam exclusive when it first launched in 2009. Now it's on the Epic Games Store in a rather ironic turn of events.
Torchlight 2 was released in 2012, but the developer ended up being shut down after being purchased by Perfect World Entertainment in 2017. Now, development work continues on the upcoming Torchlight Frontiers, which is set to debut later this year, but the old guard won't be working on it.
Make sure you don't miss out on your free copy of Torchlight before you head out for the weekend and get pumped and ready for the impending deluge of Amazon Prime Day deals that are about to hit. If this is your first time playing through Torchlight, you're in for a treat.
