It's been a long and excruciating wait for Psychonauts fans to finally see the next game in the series come to fruition, and it looks like that wait's about to get a little longer.
The Psychonauts team took to the official Fig page for Psychonauts 2 with a recap od what happened at E3, how the team spent time demoing the game during the E3 Coliseum with Jack Black, and how much fun they all had. And then they dropped the bomb: the game would be coming out in 2020 instead of 2019.
"We know it’s always disappointing when you have to wait a bit longer, but we also know that you are an amazing, supportive bunch, who - just like us - want the game to be as good as possible. So we’re hopeful you’ll understand! <3"
Unfortunately, beyond this brief note, the blog post doesn't discuss why the decision was made to push the game back, only a general tone that the team has been so extremely busy that it hasn't had enough time to make the game the best it can be. So it looks like there's still going to be a wait if you want to check out the latest entry in the series, but at least it's still coming, right?
We also got a fun shout-out in the Fig announcement, given our Best Teeth of E3 award went to the first look at the Psychonauts 2 gameplay clip, which features lots of just that – teeth, and mouths. Apparently people find it creepy. Looks like some great dental work to us!
We'll keep you posted on any further developments that happen to arise about Psychonauts 2, but in the meantime, we'll have to stay patient until the next game comes down the pipeline. Hopefully it's everything fans have been wanting and more.
