All four current entries in the Trine series will be coming to the Switch as part of the Trine: Ultimate Collection later this fall.
Modus Games made the announcement today, including the Switch in the group of platforms that gamers can expect to play all four games on. It was originally slated to come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but after receiving requests for the games to come to Switch, the wheels were set in motion to include Switch owners, bringing it to fruition on the popular console/handheld hybrid.
It will be released as both a physical and digital edition, and the physical edition will come with Trine 1-4 on a Switch cartridge, a download code for both art books and soundtracks, a map of Trine 4, and a cover sheet that you can swap out to use the reverse of. If you pre-order the game, you'll also get a cloth poster and in-game goodies.
Previously, we reviewed Trine 3: Artifacts of Power, awarding it a 7 out of 10. Here's what reviewer Steven Wong had to say about it:
"Artifacts of Power hits most of the right marks. There are some wonderfully creative physics based puzzles, multiplayer support, and breathtaking graphics. There's even some nice humor in the game, like when Amadeus briefly tries to explain why getting into the Wizard's Academy is so weird and difficult.
At the same time, there's a feeling that the game lost something when it went fully 3D. Perhaps it's appropriate that the game starts off with The Trine breaking. The game does an admirable job at piecing things together, but there is still something noticeably off about it."
Now you'll get the chance to check it out yourself when the Nintendo Switch version lands later this year during the fall. It appears there still isn't a release date just yet, but we'll update you once there is one.
