Fans eagerly awaiting the debut of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course will have to wait a bit longer before they can sink their teeth into the next bit of DLC.
The team at Studio MDHR had initially announced a 2019 release date for the Delicious Last Course expansion, but now it looks as though eager fans will have to dig into the new content in 2020.
"We’re taking a page out of Chef Saltbaker’s book, and spending the necessary time to get the recipe just right – this means that we’ll be moving the release of The Delicious Last Course to 2020. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but we’re confident it’s one that will result in a higher quality experience that’s all the sweeter when it does arrive," wrote Studio MDHR on the official Xbox blog.
"Rest assured, we remain hard at work on this new isle, which will bring a whole bevy of screen-filling bosses, exciting weapons & charms to wallop with, and of course, a brand-new playable character…the lovely Ms. Chalice!"
So it's not all bad news – while the new DLC will take a lot longer to get here, there are plenty of awesome new additions that should make it well worth the wait.
Never played Cuphead? Here's what our own Ozzie Mejia had to say about it. He awarded the game an 8 out of 10 in his thorough review:
"Cuphead is a joyful flashback to a bygone era, both in terms of animation and in terms of crushing video game difficulty. It's easy to get lost in this gorgeous cartoon world and get overtaken by the sheer beauty and whimsy of the game's characters. Then the intensity picks up and it becomes one of the most challenging video game experiences of the year.
But the best part about Cuphead is that the challenge feels attainable. It's the right kind of frustration, the kind that makes a person feel like they can prevail if they just try one more time. It's easy for this type of game to feel cheap, but it never feels impossible. It's a gorgeous piece of work and a cup that feels better on repeated sips."
While you're waiting for the new helping to come along, it's probably a good idea to go ahead and play the first challenging platforming levels, too.
