Replicade cabinets offer full-size fun at one-sixth the size

Upcoming AAA games from the big publishers and console hardware manufacturers always steal the headlines during E3 each year, but some of the most interesting developments on the show floor are coming from the niche hardware makers. A perfect example of this is the Replicade series of miniaturized arcade cabinet reproductions from the folks at New Wave Toys. The one-sixth scale cabinets are a near-perfect match to your favorite arcade games of years past, all fully playable without eating up a closet-sized chunk of your home. We got a chance to speak with Peter Gould, co-founder of New Wave Toys from the show floor at E3 2019 to get all the details on the Replicade cabinets.

New Wave Toys have offered mini-reproduction arcade cabinets for the higher-end collector market for such titles as Asteroids, Centipede, and Tempest. They are currently taking pre-orders for their newest cabinet, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition. This is the company’s most ambitious endeavor thus far and aims to recreate arguably the most popular arcade cabinet of the 1990s.

The official New Wave Toys website outlines what buyers can expect from the one-sixth scale Street Fighter II cabinet:

The cabinet will set you back $119.99 and is expected to begin shipping July 1, 2019.
