If you've been jonesing for news about a new Nintendo Switch model or even a smaller one that you could take with you instead of the one you've got at home on your trusty dock, your ship may finally have come in.
Nintendo fan @Cptn_Alex on Twitter posted an image of an email he received from a Chinese gaming accessory manufacturer called Honson Gaming.
"Was the Switch Mini just unofficially announced to me?" Alex questioned. "A gaming company in China just wrote to me letting me know they’re releasing accessories for the Nintendo Switch Mini. Would a company make products for a console they didn’t KNOW existed, and didn’t have in hand?"
The answer to that is yes, because we've seen it happen time and time again. Typically, the products do end up releasing, and the cases/protectors (or whatever the item in question is) end up making up our first "real" glimpses of unannounced systems, phones, or other electronic items. It's hard to say what's going on in this situation, but best not to write it off as fiction just yet, especially if the company is reaching out to those it wants to communicate with on behalf of the business.
A quick trip to the Honson official website reveals that the products are indeed up for purchase, showing a tempered glass screen protector and a clear protective case as well as several cases for what the company is calling, indeed, the Nintendo Switch Mini. The image of the Switch seen in the product images is obviously a fan mock-up and not a final representation of what the Switch Mini would look like (or so we believe), but it seems like a safe bet that the company either believes this item is going to be releasing soon enough or has it on good authority that it should go ahead and start pumping out these accessories for an impending launch.
The items appear to be all "out of stock" right now, but it certainly looks like this could be the start of one particularly juicy rumor. Is Nintendo planning on making some sort of debut announcement at a later date, now that we're already a week out from the company's E3 showing? Keep it locked here on Shacknews for additional updates, and we'll keep you abreast of the situation.
