I was on the fence about Watch Dogs: Legion when I first heard about it. Not a knock, but with so many banging good games coming out this year and early next, who has the time? What hooked me, though, was learning that players could recruit any NPC in the game, and even play as them. No matter what else happens, that’s cool.
During an interview with Shacknews’ Greg Burke at E3 2019, Sean Crooks, lead producer on Watch Dogs: Legion, confirmed that not only could players recruit and play as any NPC in the game, they could also change the way they dressed and give them custom masks. They can also choose a specialty class for each one, including enforcer, hacker, or infiltrator.
Ubisoft has done a great job with their open-world experiences the last few years, but an open-world isn’t enough in 2019. Dozens of open-world games come out each year, and with worlds like the one in Red Dead Redemption 2 being so detailed, the competition is fierce. The new gameplay mechanics introduced in Watch Dogs: Legion should help it stand apart from the crowd a bit. Instead of a new Watch Dogs game based in London, we have a new Watch Dogs game that delivers unparalleled player choice.
There’s a nearly endless number of cool things to see at E3 2019 this year, and the best place to see it is by heading to the Shacknews YouTube channel, or the GamerHubTV YouTube channel. We’ll be all over this year’s E3, but also every major gaming convention and show you can name.
