The Animal Crossing series has been a favorite of Nintendo fans for a long while now. When Nintendo originally announced the arrival of the series on the Nintendo Switch last year, many fans were ecstatic. Now that we finally have a release date, they’re even more excited. What’s even more exciting than Animal Crossing coming to Switch, though, is the fact that the latest game will finally include full customization for your character.
In previous iterations of the Animal Crossing series, players could only customize their character’s actual look a small amount, often by taking a short quiz at the start of the game. In New Horizon’s though, Nintendo players will have full customization options for their character, including hair color, style, eye color, facial features, and even skin color. It’s a huge leap forward for the series—one that probably could have come earlier in the main series.
The news comes via an interview between Polygon and Aya Kyogoku. According to Kyogoku, “all the facial parts or hairstyles are all gender-free. So, you can select from a pool of hairstyles and facial features and then they’re also changeable at any point in the game.” It’s a pretty big step, and definitely one that many gamers will appreciate.
It will be interesting to see what other changes and upgrades Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings when it hits the Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2020.
