Ghost Recon Breakpoint is shaping up to be one of my most anticipated games of 2019. You see, I’m into shooters and co-op gameplay, and enjoyed Wildlands thoroughly. I was sold on Breakpoint before getting into the details, but the more I learn the more impressed I become.
The latest detail to impress me came from an interview our own Greg Burke did with Sebastien Le Prestre, Associate Lead Development Tester on Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Sebastien revealed a lot during the interview, but one of the cooler details was the size of the Ghost Recon Breakpoint map. Auroa, the island where the bulk of the game takes place in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, is as big as the Ghost Recon Wildlands map. However, as post-launch content plans roll out, more islands will be added around Auroa, theoretically making the Breakpoint world even larger than Wildlands. If you’ve played Wildlands, you’ll know that its world is huge. Players can take helicopter trips five, six, or seven minutes long to travel from one end of the map to the other. It’s massive.
Now, bigger isn’t always better. There are plenty of open-world games with smaller maps that are detailed enough to make traversing them incredible. When you introduce vehicles, though, you need some space to move around, and it appears that Breakpoint will give players that space.
For more video content from E3 2019, head over to our Shacknews YouTube channel, or our GamerHubTV YouTube channel. We’ll be sharing loads of content not just from E3, but from the biggest gaming shows around the globe. You an also follow our video game release dates 2019 guide if you’re looking to stay current on all the games coming later this year. I’m probably going to be a sucker and buy them all, but it might be wise to pick and choose just for the sake of having time to play them.
