Square Enix ended their E3 2019 press conference by finally showcasing their new Avengers title. In the trailer, we see the team fighting a group of baddies in San Francisco on the Golden Gate bridge. The trailer centers heavily around the core Avengers characters that fans have come to know and love from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and The Hulk all make appearances in the action-packed sequence. However, one particular member of the team was noticeably absent, leaving us to wonder just where was Hawkeye in the Marvel's Avengers E3 2019 trailer?
Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye is a vital member of the Avengers in the comics and film franchise. In the MCU, he’s a founding member of the team and fights alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes in some of their most trying battles. Hawkeye has always been the butt of the joke, often being referred to as the most useless of the Avengers. Many seem to even forget that he’s apart of the roster due to the fact he doesn’t have any flashy powers like most of his colleagues. It looks like the team at Crystal Dynamics may have also forgotten about Hawkeye, as the highly skilled archer is nowhere to be found in any of the game’s footage shared thus far.
It’s very clear in the cinematic trailer and story reel shown that Marvel’s Avengers will specifically revolve around the five core members of the team mentioned earlier. Hawkeye won’t be playable from the beginning, but there’s a solid chance he could show up at some point down the road. During the conference, Square Enix stated that they planned to support Marvel’s Avengers with content for years to come. This plan includes new characters as well as new regions, all of which will be free to players. It’s more than safe to assume that the most accurate bowman in the universe will make is appearance sooner or later.
