If you thought that space ninja simulator, Warframe couldn’t get any better, then you thought wrong. For a few years now, Digital Extremes, the developers behind Warframe, have been looking for a way to bring the fast-paced and action-packed ninja combat of the game’s base systems to space.
Now, they’re ready to talk a bit more about the space combat systems, and they teased Warframe players with a small bit of it at this year’s E3 2019 PC Gaming Show. Rebecca Ford, the Community Director on Warframe, took to the stage and revealed a bit of information about the game’s upcoming expansion, Empyrean. This expansion had been known as Railjack beforehand, the new expansion will bring a massive change to Warframe’s core game mechanics with the addition of ship-to-ship space combat.
It’s a massive update that Digital Extremes has been working on for quite some time now, and one that they teased briefly at TennoCon 2018, last year. This year was just another tease, though the short trailer did give us a nice look at what we can expect to learn more about when TennoCon and TennoLive kick in next month. TennoCon is Warframe’s annual conference to celebrate the game’s sprawling community, and we expect that Digital Extremes will dive into the upcoming expansion a bit more heavily during their livestreams next month.
On top of showcasing Empyrean and space combat, Ford also revealed that players will be able to link their Warframe account to Twitch and then watch the TennoLive broadcasts to receive the Nekros Prime Warframe completely free.
