Hammerhead teases ABE at Upload VR E3 2019 Showcase

Published , by Josh Hawkins

Hammerhead took the spotlight during the Upload VR E3 2019 Showcase to show off the first teaser for their upcoming new multi-format story, ABE.

Not much is known yet about the game, though it does appear to build off of the same intense story that was first introduced during Rob McLellan’s 2013 short film, which debuted on Vimeo. In the original short film, viewers were introduced to Abe, a robot looking for love in all the wrong places.

The original experience was visceral and intense, and it looks like Hammerhead is planning to deliver the same kind of psychological horror experience all within the immersive world of virtual reality. It appears that several of the rooms that players will explore can move around and change, introducing completely new setups for you to see and enjoy.

The entire ABE experience will be presented in a three-part, multi-format story universe, according to the official press release. Led by the original creator, Rob McLellan, the new ABE stories will lead with the location-based VR experience and then continue with a new short film. Finally, the last piece of the puzzle will come with a game that can be played in or outside of virtual reality, giving ABE fans of all types a way to enjoy the experience.

There’s no set release date for the upcoming ABE series, though we expect that Hammerhead will reveal more when they are ready to.

We’ll continue to keep our eyes peeled for more news about ABE. You can check out the teaser above. If you want to see the original short film, head on over to Vimeo.
