Carrion has been announced during the Devolver Digital E3 2019 press conference with a gameplay trailer. Players take on the role of an amorphous blood clot-like blob. Check out the trailer below!
In Carrion, players take on the role of a red monster (probably made of blood or some sinewy material) and must escape an underground laboratory. As you progress through the game, you will gain mass and grow larger, presumably through absorbing other people.
The game uses an ability system whereby you will acquire new skills for your amorphous nightmare creature as you wreak havoc on the people that imprisoned you.
Carrion is actually billed as a “reverse horror” game. The idea being that instead of fighting a hideous monster, you are the hideous monster. There are some similarities that can be drawn between Carrion and Playdead’s 2016 psychological adventure game, Inside. However, it’s unlikely the blob will transform into a child at the end. Or it could, that would be a wild twist.
While no release date was given, Carrion is expected to release next year in 2020. You can check out Carrion Steam page, where it can be added to your wishlist. While the Steam page does currently state the release date as June 2, 2020, no official announcement has been made.
Carrion is one of a few games announced during the brief Devolver Digital press conference. One of the other unique titles revealed during Devolver Direct was Fall Guys Ultimate Knockout. Unlike Carrion, Fall Guys is a multiplayer experience where players use cute and colorful creatures instead of monsters.
