If you were hoping for a new Dishonored game this year, then I’ve got some bad news. Bethesda’s E3 2019 showcase came without any mention of the super-powered assassin series, but it did come with some intriguing news out of Arkane Studios. Following some announcements about Fallout 76 and the sort, Arkane Lyon stepped up to the plate and debuted their newest game, Deathloop.
Deathloop is a completely new IP from the studio behind the Dishonored series. Based off what we know so far, the game appears to revolve around two rivals who must continuously fight against each other. There are several images of a clock ticking down (and the name of the game itself) which seem to reference that they are stuck in a constant loop of fighting, as they relive the moments over and over again.
According to the official game’s description from Bethesda, Deathloop will transport players to the lawless island of Blackreef, where they will take part in an eternal struggle between two highly skilled assassins. As you explore the beautiful and dangerous island, you’ll need to take out targets all around it in an attempted to end the cycle for good. Of course, death looks to play a major part in this upcoming shooter, which means players should expect to die again and again as they fight to bring the conflict to an end.
There’s no release date for Deathloop just yet, but we’ll continue to keep an eye on the studio to see what kind of updates they put out over the next several months. While you’ll need to wait for Deathloop, you can see all the video games release dates for 2019 by heading over to our handy guide to find something new to play. We highly recommend keeping an eye out on our E3 2019 hub as well, as we’ll be constantly updating that over the next several days to include more announcements and interviews from E3 itself.
