Phil Spencer blew everyone’s minds with the announcement that Halo Infinite would launch with the next-gen console, Xbox Project Scarlett. Halo Infinite, and Xbox Project Scarlett, are set to release during the 2020 holiday season.
While it might still be a long way off, Sunday’s reveal of Halo Infinite certainly left a lot of Halo fans exceptionally excited. Not only is the art style a return to form, but it appears as if the story has a greater focus on Master Chief and Cortana. After Halo 5: Guardians attempted something new by making players hunt down Master Chief as Agent Locke, it’s nice to get back to our humble roots.
Speaking of humble roots, the fact that Halo Infinite is an Xbox Project Scarlett launch title should warm a lot of gamer’s hearts. Back in 2001, Halo: Combat Evolved was a launch title for Microsoft’s original Xbox console. Since that day, nearly every gamer has either experienced a Halo title or heard about it. Although we might be divided over whether Halo 2 or Halo: Reach is the best Halo game, we can all agree that the series is a staple of the gaming community.
It’s been almost 20 years since Halo and Xbox launched hand-in-hand, so it’s touching to see the Chief assisting in a console launch once more. Now if we can just get a classic, transparent green, Halo Infinite-branded Xbox Project Scarlett, then we’d be all set.
We still have a while to wait before we can finally get our hands on Halo Infinite and Xbox Project Scarlett as both are scheduled to release during the holidays of 2020. Thankfully, we have some more Halo goodness to help bridge the chasm between now and then in the form of the Master Chief Collection on PC.
