The Cleveland Browns are certainly on an upswing. The team had ascended to mediocrity with their 7 wins last season, but things really are looking up for the city on the lake. Big trades and free agent signings by Browns General Manager John Dorsey have the Browns looking better than they have since their return in 1999. It seems like the developers at Electronic Arts have taken notice of the Browns' stacked roster and as they have given the team an overall rating of 87. You heard it here, folks. 87. We got our hands on the game at EA Play 2019, and were shocked to see the Browns rated so highly.
Just a year ago, the Browns were coming off of a brutal 1-31 record over two seasons. The coaching staff was at each other's throats, and the city of Cleveland had pretty much given up on the team. Chris (reflog) McNeil even organized an 0-16 winless parade after the team failed to win a single game in the 2017 season. 2018 saw fortune return to the shores of Lake Erie as the Browns actually drafted a solid franchise quarterback. Baker Mayfield certainly kicked the Browns up a notch, and was even featured in Madden NFL 19 promo footage. He's no Peyton Hillis, Madden NFL 12 cover athlete, but many are hopeful that Mayfield will be able to lead the team to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. The moves made by the front offense this season have added a lot more weapons for the young gunslinger quarterback.
The Browns have a stacked offense on paper, and that is certainly translating to the team's depth chart in Madden NFL 20. It will be interesting to see how the team lives up to the hype when the real NFL season kicks off this fall, but the Browns are clearly headed to the Super Bowl if this 87 overall team rating is any indication.
