As of right now it’s just an unconfirmed rumor thanks to a data mine, but it appears as if Destiny 2 cross save is about to be a thing. Presumably, this would allow players to swap back and forth between various platforms on the same profile, making it easier to play with large groups of friends that might not all have that beastly gaming PC.
The extent of the information comes down to an image with the words “Cross Save” over it. Luckily, it looks like data miners have also found a Destiny 2 expansion called Shadowkeep that’s expected to be revealed on June 6, 2019. This would presumably launch in September, putting it on pace to be this year’s version of Forsaken. In Shadowkeep, it appears that Guardians will be headed back to the Moon.
Cross save would be a game changer for Destiny 2 players. Currently, there’s so much to do in the game just to keep pace that few players can run three characters, let alone keep up with two groups of friends who hang out on different platforms. Imagine logging in on your Xbox One and completing a raid, then firing up your PC and having the drops show up on your account. Even if cross save isn’t that complex, it could help console players who don’t want to re-invest thousands of hours make the jump to PC.
As per any data mine or leak, though, it’s important to remember that none of this has been confirmed by Bungie at this point. However, the studio does roll out their weekly newsletter called This Week at Bungie each Thursday, which would be a possibility for a reveal. I’m personally surprised it wouldn’t be revealed via a stream, but so far I’m not seeing anything on Bungie’s social media to suggest one will take place. However it’s potentially revealed, let’s just hope that Destiny 2 cross save is a thing. For now, keep up with what's already in the game using the Destiny 2 complete strategy guide.
