We're getting into the lighter side of gaming news a little early this week. That's certainly not unusual the week before E3, since everyone's busy getting ready for the big show. What is unusual is this collaboration between the folks at Microsoft and... Lynx, the makers of Axe Body Spray. Yes, the two parties are banding together to create a new line of shower gels, body spray, and of course, deodorant.
Let's take a look at the description, taken from Gamespot (via The Verge):
"Lynx Xbox is a fresh scent of pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood. Containing a range of natural essential oils, the Xbox Lynx range comes with a sleek new look and features a body spray, deodorant, and shower gel."
This is part of Microsoft latching onto a whole new trend of helping players with their personal hygiene needs. It's a bit of a sidestep from the usual gaming tie-in products, which steer more towards snacks, energy drinks, and other items normally found in the average grocery store aisle. They're not the first to attempt to sell its customer base on hygiene products, but at least there's no DLC tied to this stuff.
The Xbox line of Lynx products will debut in Australia and New Zealand later this year. Will the Americas be graced with these products through Lynx's Axe label? If so, it should be noted that Axe has become something of a punchline in recent years. A lot of those gags were used up in the great Axe Body Spray truck explosion of 2018, though there was still a joke or two left for Marvel to use in April's Avengers: Endgame.
With all of that said, we're a hygenic lot here at Shacknews. We will follow our noses and monitor this story if these products make their way to the U.S. In the meantime, all I'm going to say is that the comments section is open. The floor is yours, readers.
