With much of the world slowly transitioning to 4K displays and the adoption of HDR content, content creators need access to newer, better tools to make content for these displays. During its WWDC 2019 keynote, Apple took the wraps off its new professional monitor, the Apple Pro Display XDR. The new monitor offers an innovative backlight array that helps deliver sustained 1000-nit brightness for HDR highlights, reference color reproduction, and Retina 6K resolution.
Apple claims that the Pro Display DXR is the only monitor in the world capable of this level of performance and will be making it available to professional users at a price of $4999 for the base model or $5999 for the model with a matte coating. Sadly, those price tags do not include a way to mount the display to a wall or put it on a desktop stand. It would appear that this display is so advanced that VESA mounter will need to lay down an additional $200 for the VESA mount and $999 for the official Apple monitor stand. The announcement of the stand and mount prices elicited some displeasure from the live crowd, which is unusual for these Apple events.
