When will Red Dead Redemption 2 release on PC?

Published , by Josh Hawkins

When Red Dead Redemption 2 released late last year on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, fans were quick to jump at the game. While it saw critical and financial success on its limited console release, many were curious to know when Red Dead Redemption 2 would release on PC. Now that E3 2019 is behind us, it’s time to talk about it a little more.

When will Red Dead Redemption 2 release on PC?

[UPDATE] Rockstar Games has officially announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive on PC on November 5, 2019.

Unfortunately, we’re still pretty much in the dark when it comes to a PC release date for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. We do know that it’s almost been a year since the original game released, which means we could very well be seeing some news about the game’s PC release in the future. In fact, back in May, we saw a leak when a PC port for Red Dead Redemption 2 appeared on a developer’s LinkedIn page.

Officially, though, there’s been no response on when PC players will be able to dive into the world that Rockstar created in the blockbuster sequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, which also only released for PlayStation and Xbox consoles at the time. We’ve still yet to see the first entry in the cowboy series make the jump to PC, so it wouldn’t be very surprising if Rockstar takes their time bringing Red Dead Redemption 2 over.

While the PC market might not be as big as the console market, Rockstar’s previous massive, open-world game, Grand Theft Auto V, did release on the PC. In fact, the audience for the game has grown massively over the past several years as mods and even the roleplay community have helped to pull new players in. Red Dead Redemption 2 was quite a treat when it released.

Back at launch, our Managing Editor Bill Lavoy wrote, “There was little doubt in my mind that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be fun, but what surprised me the most was how much I wanted to be in the world. Although quite long, the story kept me engaged, but the entire time I was pushing the Van der Linde gang’s interests forward, I was dying to head out fishing or hunting, just to be in the environments and explore without a destination.” You can read his full thoughts in his review, or head back over to our Red Dead Redemption 2 hub for more coverage of the game.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more information on a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release and update our readers with any additional information that becomes available.
