We finally got our first good look at Death Stranding with an almost 9-minute long trailer showcasing the game, the characters, and more of the mechanics and items that we’ll see in the game when it releases this November. If you’re been watching since the first reveal trailer back in 2016, then chances are you’ve heard some of Kojima’s fine music choices when it comes to choosing songs that really fit the trailer and mood. If you’ve been trying to figure out what all the Death Stranding trailer songs are, then we can help. Let’s dive right in.
The first trailer for Death Stranding came in 2016, with our first real look at Kojima’s next cinematic masterpiece. In the video we’re introduced to Sam, the main protagonist, and given a brief glimpse of the world that players will explore in Death Stranding.
The song featured in this first trailer is “I’ll Keep Coming” by Low Roar. The song appears on Low Roar’s album, 0 which released back in 2014. You can listen to the song on Spotify to hear it in its entirety.
Next up is the short teaser that Kojima released during 2016’s TGA ceremony. Showing off more of the world that we’d already seen a brief glimpse of earlier in the year, The Game Awards was ripe for the taking as they took to the big screen to show off the twisted and dark world of Death Stranding. This trailer was a bit more actiony than the previous trailer, and featured an appearance from Guillermo del Toro, how Kojima had been set to work with on P.T. before it was canceled.
While this version of the trailer didn’t include any kind of song, Kojima released an edited version for PSX 2016 that featured the song “Easy Way Out” by Low Roar.
For the next Death Stranding trailer, we jump forward almost an entire year to The Game Awards of 2017. Here we learn a bit more about Sam, the main protagonist, as well as get another look at the world of Death Stranding. This is where we got our first real glimpse at some of the features and enemies that will make an appearance on Death Stranding. This trailer also doesn’t appear to include any additional music outside of that which was created for the trailer itself.
Finally, we come to the Death Stranding trailer shared during 2018’s E3 press conference. In this trailer we learn a bit more about Sam and the world that he lives within. Of course, for anyone who has seen the trailer, Kojima never reveals all that much about the story, which has led to so many theories being created by the game’s already expansive fan base.
The first song that you’ll hear in this trailer is “Asylums for The Feeling feat. Leila Adu” by Silent Poets. You can listen to the full version by heading over to Spotify.
Finally, we come to the big bad release date reveal. The latest trailer for Death Stranding at the time of this article’s writing gave us a huge insight into the game, some of the mechanics available in it, and even revealed Death Stranding’s release date. The song that you’ll hear in this trailer is "Path" by Apocalyptica. You can head over to Spotify if you want to hear the song in its entirety, as well as check out additional music by the artist.
If you’ve followed Death Stranding at all outside of the normal theories and sort, you’ll probably know that Kojima and Icelandic band, Low Roar have become very close over the past few years. Low Roar’s music video “Give me an Answer” was heavily inspired by Death Stranding, and a melody of the song was hidden in one of the Death Stranding trailers using quipu code. Low Roar has always been added to help write the music for Death Stranding, which means we’ll get to hear more of their talent when the game releases this November.
