Death Stranding reveals release date in gameplay trailer

Published , by Josh Hawkins

Over the past couple of years, Hideo Kojima has kept many on the edge of their seats, scratching their heads as he released new bits and bobs of the first game from his independent studio. Titled Death Stranding, nobody was really all that sure what the game was about, or what people would do in it. At least, not until today. Earlier this morning we got our first real look at Death Stranding thanks to a new almost 9-minute trailer. On top of finally seeing the protagonist, Sam, at work, we also learned that Death Stranding will be releasing later this year.

Mark your calendars, Kojima fans. Death Stranding is currently set to release on PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019. That means we’re just a few short months away from being able to actually dive into the game and explore it’s beautiful and dangerous world for ourselves. If you haven’t watched the new trailer just yet, then be sure to check it out in the embed that we’ve included above.

According to the official PlayStation page for the game, Death Stranding is set in a world where civilization has collapsed. Cities have isolated themselves, and Sam Bridges (played by Norman Reedus) must journey across the ravaged landscape of the world to save mankind from the very brink of extinction. We’re not wholly sure how he’ll do that just yet, and we won’t dive to deeply into the details revealed in the trailer, in case any of you out there aren’t looking for spoilers.

What I can say, though, is that Death Stranding is looking really, really good. Preorders for the game are now live, so you can head over to the PlayStation Store to pick up the Standard Edition or the Deluxe Edition of the game.
