Interview: MapleStory games to get massive updates & changes

Published , by Josh Hawkins

MapleStory Fest is a special event for fans of the Maple Story series. Put on by Nexon each year, the event allows fans of the MapleStory series to come together and celebrate one of the most charming free-to-play role-playing games available on the market right now. We had a chance to catch up with Hyun Joo Kim, the Director of Live Games at Nexon America to talk about the MapleStory series and some of the things the company has in store for the series’ fans.

During our chat with Kim we learned that Nexon has quite a few things planned for MapleStory and MapleStory 2. Those still playing MapleStory will probably already be aware of the 14 year anniversary events going on in the game right now, and those will continue to be held as Nexon celebrates the MapleStory series’ as a whole. On top of this, MapleStory 2 will be receiving a massive new update soon called Awakening. The new update will include several new Wonders for players to acquire as well as new Job Ranks, and the new Striker class.

Altogether, it’s shaping up to be a wonderful year for fans of the MapleStory series. Awakening will hit MapleStory 2 on May 30, with the update bringing along several big fixes and changes as well. That’s not all we talked about with Hyun Joo Kim, though. You can check out the full breadth of the interview in the embed we’ve included above to hear all about MapleStory, why Nexon founded MapleStory Fest, and how they want to continue to grow the series as a whole.
