While the developers at Omega Force Studios are most famous for their various Musou games, you better not lump Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle into that genre, especially around the game’s producer Hideo Suzuki. I recently had a chance to sit down with Suzuki at a press event for the game and made the mistake of doing just that. He was quick to explain the multiple reasons why this is a whole other experience unique to the series and even went into details about all the various prototypes the team went through before landing on their current formula.
Fortunately for fans of the series, Suzuki and I had much more to talk about than my foolish assumptions including the brand new Territory mode and its inadvertent Metal Gear influence. We also delve into the challenges faced when making a game based off a franchise where the target audience might not be heavy gamers and what it was like making Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle in tandem with the third season of the anime. Surprisingly, Suzuki was also very upfront about the potential for future installments in the series and where he’d like to go from here with gameplay mechanics. You can check out the interview in its entirety, as well as Suzuki’s very stylish Survey Corps outfit in the video below.
