Frogwares' Lovecraftian investigation game The Sinking City is a terrifying prospect, and we can't wait to get our hands on it.
The game's latest trailer, cleverly titled Rotten Reality, gives us a look at the rot and decay that the city of Oakmont, Massachusetts is currently suffering from. Players take on the role of private investigator Charles W. Reed as he makes an attempt at figuring out why the entirety of the city finds itself being pulled into a seemingly never-ending pit of madness. It's seriously disturbing, and the trailer does a great job of showcasing the various degrees in which reality has been totaly warped.
Bigben Interactive's open-world detective adventure will feature a third-person camera perspective and open investigation system that finds the outcome of players' actions changing depending on how "observant" they are during normal play. There's a wide variety of evidence to collect as you make your way through the game to piece together the puzzle set out before you, which looks like it'll be an interesting riff on the traditional mystery game.
The Sinking City is set to touch down on June 27 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As far as its effect on your sanity, we can't comment on any of that, but you might want to be careful when dealing with anything Lovecraftian.
