Remember buying and collecting your favorite gross Garbage Pail Kids cards when you were a kid?
Even if you don't, some exciting news today for fans of the silly and parodical nature: Garbage Pail Kids: The Game is finally out on mobile devices.
Jago Studios has been working on a colorful, over-the-top version of the hilarious Garbage Pail Kids parody cards to fruition in the form of a mobile game, and it's finally here.
“An entire generation grew up with the outrageous and satirical character art of the Garbage Pail Kids, imagining what the cards would look like if they were to come to life,” said Stuart Drexler, Jago Studios Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “We are excited to bring these 80’s icons to mobile and offer GPK fans entertaining new ways to interact with their favorite characters— now fully animated.” You can check out what the game looks like in the trailer below.
It's an exciting venture for the brand, since this is the first true video game it's gotten, and if you were around during the '80s to experience its debut, you'll be thankful for a way to collect them that doesn't mean filling up a ton of binders.
“When GPK was originally launched back in the day, mobile games or mobile phones did not exist,” says Ira Friedman, Vice President of Global Licensing at Topps. “Thanks to the giant leaps in technology since those early times, our fans can now experience the fun, the thrills, and the visual audaciousness of the Garbage Pail Kids property through their phones— whenever they want.”
The free-to-play game is out now for both iOS and Android users now, so you can start collecting right away. And make sure you appreciate those genius parodies! The Garbage Pail Transformer is nothing short of a Look.
